Open Educational Resources (OER)

A critical part of sustaining Open Educational Resources (OER) in higher education is recognizing the contributions by instructors who create and improve them as part of their professional work. In order to aid this effort, Driving OER Sustainability for Student Success (DOERS3) has developed an adaptable advisory model to help guide faculty as they attempt to include their OER work in their tenure and promotion portfolios.

This model can serve as a guide for T&P committees who wish to add open education-related work into their standards.

This resource was developed by a working group from the Iowa Open Education Action Team (Iowa OER). Our team built upon DOERS3's OER in Tenure & Promotion Matrix to help faculty and staff advocate for the inclusion of open educational practices (OEP) in promotion, tenure, and faculty evaluation practices at their institutions.

In order to aid Tenure and Promotion, Driving OER Sustainability for Student Success (DOERS3) developed an adaptable advisory model to help guide faculty as they attempt to include their OER work in their tenure, promotion, and/or annual review (T&P) materials.

Here we offer the development of an adaptable matrix to help faculty include OER (Open Educational Resources) in their tenure and promotion portfolios.

Ryerson Open Moments is a book that describes the journeys of eight educators who came to discover open education through projects in which they developed open educational resources. Each of these stories recounts a different journey towards open and what open education comes to mean for each of our storytellers. These stories vary based on their goals, their experiences of teaching, and the types of projects they pursued.
