Created in 1997, the Smithsonian Latino Center works pan-institutionally with the entire network of Smithsonian museums, research centers, programs and almost 200 affiliates nationwide to ensure that Latino culture, achievement and contributions are celebrated and recognized.

The Smithsonian Latino Center ensures that Latino contributions to the arts, sciences, and humanities are highlighted, understood, and advanced through the development and support of public programs, research, museum collections, and educational opportunities at the Smithsonian Institution.

Includes biographies, images, and text fragments for authors from Spain and Latin America (as well as other countries); the site also incorporates art, architecture, music and cinematography. Site is entirely in Spanish.

Instituto Cervantes is an institution that was founded by the Spanish government in 1991 to promote the Spanish language and Spanish and Hispanic-American culture. The central head office of the institution is located in Madrid and in Alcalá de Henares ( Madrid), birthplace of the writer Miguel de Cervantes.

The building that today houses the Museo Nacional del Prado was designed by architect Juan de Villanueva in 1785. It was constructed to house the Natural History Cabinet, by orders of King Charles III. However, the building's final purpose - as the new Royal Museum of Paintings and Sculptures - was the decision of the monarch's grandson, King Ferdinand VII, encouraged by his wife Queen Maria Isabel de Braganza.The Royal Museum, soon quickly renamed the National Museum of Paintings and Sculptures and subsequently the Museo Nacional del Prado, opened to the public for the first time in November 1819.

El Museo Nacional de Arte abrió sus puertas en 1982 gracias a la exhortación de críticos y estudiosos para congregar bajo el mismo recinto una amplia selección de arte mexicano que permitiera a los visitantes obtener una visión general del proceso artístico nacional.

La apertura del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía en 1990 supuso la creación de un museo de arte moderno y contemporáneo en España de nivel internacional, aunque no han sido pocos los avatares sufridos por el edificio hasta alcanzar tal fin.

El Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família és una església monumental iniciada el 19 de març de 1882 a partir del projecte de l'arquitecte diocesà Francisco de Paula del Villar (1828-1901). A finals del 1883 es va encarregar a Gaudí la continuació de les obres, tasca que no va deixar fins a la seva mort, el 1926. A partir d'aleshores, diversos arquitectes han continuat l'obra seguint la idea original de Gaudí.

Originally constructed in the early 17th century as Spain's seat of government for what is today the American Southwest, the Palace of the Governors chronicles the history of Santa Fe, as well as New Mexico and the region. This adobe structure, now the state's history museum, was designated a Registered National Historic Landmark in 1960 and an American Treasure in 1999.

National Library of Mexico

The Handbook is a bibliography on Latin America consisting of works selected and annotated by scholars. Edited by the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress, the multidisciplinary Handbook alternates annually between the social sciences and the humanities. Each year, more than 130 academics from around the world choose over 5,000 works for inclusion in the Handbook. Continuously published since 1936, the Handbook offers Latin Americanists an essential guide to available resources. More information on the history of the Handbook can be found in a paper written for the Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials (SALALM) annual meeting in 1996.
