A database is a collection of materials organized in a way that allows them to be searched. (Since YouTube and Amazon function in a similar way, you are already familiar with the concept of database searching.)
The databases on this page have been created specificaly for academic use and are a good source for finding journal articles and other related materials. While some of the databases listed are very specialized and focused on particular subjects, many are multidisciplinary and cover a wide variety of subjects.
