The College of Staten Island Library has recently acquired access to primary sources from Gale's Archives Unbound! This set of 22 primary source collections covers a wide variety of areas in American History from the civil rights movement to Japanese Internment camps to military history. Some of these primary sources include FBI Files on important figures in the civil rights movement, testimonies from the Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment, and more.
A full list of all of the Archives Unbound Collections the CSI Library has access to can be found through this link or under "G" in the A-Z databases list on the College of Staten Island Library website.
Many of the documents in the Archives Unbound collection were compiled or written by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a result of their surveillance of certain groups or individuals. While often biased in their reasoning for compiling such materials, these FBI files are the most comprehensive documentation on certain historical groups and individuals. Therefore, it is important to keep in mind the historical context of the FBI files when reading the documents.
