Every year since 1982, libraries, schools, and other organizations have participated in Banned Books Week, an event that emphasizes the importance of free and open access to information. With book bans and challenges across the United States increasing at staggering rates, shining a spotlight on the issue of censorship is crucial.
This year, the CSI Library began its Banned Book Week celebration with film screenings and created a bookcase featuring a selection of banned and challenged classic, young adult, and children's titles from its collection.
The bookcase, which is located in the first floor reading room, provides ready access to books that can be checked out by members of the CSI community. We invite you to enrich your reading experience all month long by reading a book from our shelves. In addition, our third floor stacks are filled with other banned and challenged books, including these titles. For more resources, visit the Library's Banned and Challenged Books Research Guide.
