Scholarship and Fellowship Opportunities

The Calvin B. Holder Scholarship
The scholarship was set up by friends and family members of Professor Holder to provide financial assistance to students enrolled at CSI who are pursuing a major in African and African Diaspora Studies (AADS). Professor Holder developed and shaped the AADS program for over 30 years. Nine students have received awards from this scholarship since it was established in 2018.
The Dorothy Ann Helm Scholarship for Study Abroad
This scholarship was established by the Friends of Dorothy Ann Helm in memory of her long-standing service to International Education and the role she held as Executive Director of the Center of International Services at the College of Staten Island from 1990-2013.

Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship
The Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship is a three-year cohort-based program that provides funded summer internships and unprecedented opportunities to promising undergraduate students from 12 New York City partner institutions

African Diaspora International Film Festival
Established in 1993, the African Diaspora International Film Festival is a Harlem based minority led not-for-profit international film festival that presents, interprets, and educates about films that explore the human experience of people of color all over the world to inspire imaginations, disrupt stereotypes and help transform attitudes that perpetuate injustice.
African Film Festival
African Film Festival, Inc. (AFF) is dedicated to advancing an enhanced understanding of African culture through the moving image. It offers diverse platforms for the wide distribution of African media through its flagship annual film festival and complementary year-round programming.
Harlem Renaissance Multimedia Walking Tour
Harlem Renaissance Multimedia Walking Tour visits sights in Harlem pertaining to the culturally explosive days of 1920's Harlem, when art and culture was used as a tool for African-Americans and Blacks to define ones own self image, therefore redefining how the world viewed people of color in America. Walk in the footsteps of legendary figures such Marcus Garvey, Langston Hughs, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Harry Wills, Eubie Blake + many more.
