In the wake of the death of George Floyd, the third unarmed black person killed by police officers between February 2020 and May 2020, a swell of protest marches broke out across the nation and around the world demanding fundamental cultural and institutional change in how American police implement law enforcement, especially towards Blacks and other persons of color. In solidarity, the Department of the Library posted a black poster slide with white text on our homepage, stating that: "The CSI Library condemns racism and police brutality perpetrated against Black Americans."
However, words need to be followed by action, and to this end, the Department of the Library wishes to do its own part. Hence, this website offers a variety of resources on the topic of racial and social (in)justice, so as to help educate and better inform our college community and beyond on these issues.
The resources in this guide include books, essays, podcasts, films and documentaries, curricular and syllabus recommendations, and lastly, suggestions on how one can be an Agent of Change.
