Plagiarism is the intentional (or unintentional) stealing of another person's words or ideas without giving explicit credit to the original author. 

Plagiarism can be summarized in the following bullet points below

• stealing another person's words and passing off (the ideas or words of another) as your own
• turning in someone else's work as your own
• copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit
• failing to put a quotation in quotation marks
• giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation
• changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit
• presenting your ideas as new and original, but they came from an existing source
