CUNY Resources

  • The Council on Student Disability Issues (COSDI) is comprised of twenty-two directors from the various Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) offices. 
  • The CUNY Assistive Technology (CATS) has been an ongoing project that has lead to the testing and support of assistive technology equipment as a resource for CUNY professionals.
  • CUNY's Office of Computer and Information Services has issued an accessibility statement. In January 2015, CUNY's IT Accessibility Task Force, formed by chancellor's office, surveyed the accessibility of library services and materials offered by CUNY libraries.
  • CUNY's Procedures for Implementing Reasonable Accommodation: There is also a faculty guide for reasonable accommodations in the classroom. Faculty members should also visit CUNY's IT page dedicated to faculty with disabilities, how to make CUNY applications accessible, and how faculty can apply accessibility to teaching activities.
  • The implementation of our new student disability management system, CUNY Accommodate. It will streamline the management of requests for accommodations and services provided by Disability Services Offices (DSOs) on every campus between faculty and students. 
  • CUNY's new accessibility policy for Students with Disabilities.

Programs

  • CUNY LEADS is a unique program designed to prepare CUNY students with disabilities to make realistic academic and career choices and develop the skills that will result in successful career outcomes.
  • Project REACH stands for Resources and Education on Autism as CUNY’s Hallmark. It's a university-wide project funded by the FAR Fund, to enhance CUNY’s capacity to support its growing population of autistic college students and to educate faculty and staff about autism.
  • CUNY Unlimited is a non-credit credential program that expands access to the college experience for students with intellectual disabilities.
