New York State Curriculum and Instruction (DoE)

New York State Common Core Learning Standards for all subject areas. This site includes subject specific resource guides with core curriculum documents. The New York State Education Department is responsible for setting student learning expectations (standards) for what all students should know and be able to do as a result of skilled instruction. Each local school district develops curricula based on these standards.

Common Core State Standards Initiative
This is the official, national site for the state-led initiative to establish a single set of educational standards for kindergarten through 12th grade in English Language Arts & Literacy and Mathematics.

Library of Congress: Teacher Resources
The Library of Congress offers classroom materials to assist teachers in using primary resources from the Library's vast digital collections.
 
National Geographic and the Common Core
Utilizing both free and for sale publications from National Geographic, this site provides resources for K-12 educators that support the Common core standards. Many of the non-free articles are available through the CSI website using our National Geographic Archive
 

Digital library funded by National Science Foundation providing relevant sites for education and research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Resources for k-12 teachers include pathway portals, resources of interest, and professional development. Materials range from journal articles to lesson plans and interactive animations. Access provided by grade level and format.

Smithsonian Learning Lab
The Learning Lab aims to help educators use "digital representations of the Smithsonian’s millions of resources.... to develop deeper learning competencies" in their students. The distance learning resources include links to comprehensive assignments, worksheets and full lesson plans.

PBS Learning Media

PBSs has selected standards-aligned videos, interactives and lesson plans for New York teachers. These resources are freely available on line. You can search for media and assignments by subject and grade level. 

Online community where educators can share free K-12 learning materials including lesson plans, worksheets and activities. Also contains content for the common core standards. Resources are accessible by grade, subject, and topic. Registration is necessary. It was developed to encourage free lesson sharing, funded by the American Federation of Teachers.
