In October 2020, CUNY's Office of Library Services (OLS) added links to the Open Library for titles that were freely available on that platform. See our blog post about this initiative here.
Since then, additional titles have been added, while others have been withdrawn. OLS will be removing all existing “View Online” links to titles in the Open Library. Alternatively, they will add links to check full text availability at Open Library to the “Links” section at the bottom of the full record display in OneSearch.
For example, the book title The most dangerous man in Detroit: Walter Reuther and the fate of American labor, provides a listing of the CUNY campus libraries that own a physical copy.
Additionally, there are links at the bottom of the book record that provide access to electronic copies (if available) to the Open Library, and to other subscription-based databases (if available).
