In conjunction with the exhibit, Power of Protest: The Movement to Free Soviet Jews, the CSI Library and CSI Hillel are proud to present our featured speaker, Dr. Anna Katsnelson (Columbia University). She will discuss Soviet Jewish artists and writers like Pasternak, Brodsky, and Aksyonov, whose maltreatment led partially to the US effort to let Soviet Jews leave the USSR. Migration.

Dr. Katsnelson is the author of “Transnationalism in Contemporary Post-Soviet North American Literature” published in Twentieth Century Literature, 2019. She co-edited with David Shneer, a special issue of Journal of East European Jewish Affairs on “The New Wave of Russian-Jewish-American Culture.”  She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Harriman Institute, Columbia University. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Texas at Austin.
