Archives History Day Talk

Letters in context, an archival journey

Presented by Frances Kerner

Thursday, October 28th at 2:30pm

A CC CLUE Event

Register in advance here : https://bit.ly/archives-history-day-2021

This event is held in observance of Archives History Month. Archives Month is observed nationally during October to celebrate and promote the rich documentary heritage of our nation and the importance of archival and historical records to our lives.

British Researcher Frances Kerner will be joining us via Zoom from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England to share new information about a manuscript item in the CSI Archives & Special Collections. She has uncovered over 100 letters dating from 1795 to 1852, written between Gamble family members and their friends, that reveal the joys, fortunes, disappointments and struggles of life in Colonial America and the Antebellum United States. Kerner works for the Open Spaces Society, Britain’s oldest conservation charity. She researches lost commons which are eligible for registration as common land under part 1 of the Commons Act 2006.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
