CC CLUE Event
Come to the CSI Library Theater (1L-103) for our Women's History Month film screening of this award-winning documentary Chisholm '72: Unbought & Unbossed.
This historical documentary chronicles the political life of Shirley Chisholm, the nation's first African-American congresswoman who launched a campaign for the United States presidency in the 1972 election. Although she did not win, she won much support, despite running in an era of prejudices and racial injustices.
The film takes a look at her presidential run and offers various interviews from Chisholm herself as well as many others who worked with her on her campaign. Chisholm's bid for the presidency provoked strong opposition, yet her tenacity to run helped empower more women and people of color. This film was an Official Selection at the Sundance International Film Festival and at the SXSW Film Festival.
