Introducing Academic Video Online (AVON): a new streaming video database!

The CSI Library now has access to Academic Video Online (AVONone of the most comprehensive video streaming databases available. It delivers over 70,000 titles spanning a wide range of subject areas including anthropology, business, counseling, film, health, history, music, and more!

It includes a variety of video material to support the curriculum, from documentaries, interviews, feature films, performances, news programs, newsreels, and demonstrations. You will find thousands of award-winning films, including Academy®, Emmy®, and Peabody® winners. You will find the most frequently used films for classroom instruction, plus newly released films and previously unavailable archival material.

Academic Video Online (AVON), a product of ProQuest's Alexander Street, includes “channels” such as Film Platform, PBS, Sony Pictures Classics, and the Documentary Channel. To learn more about what this database provides, please consult this guide.

Subject coverage supports all academic departments and programs. The database provides access to disciplines such as American History, World History, Business & Economics, Education, Anthropology, Science, Politics & Current Affairs, Health, Counseling & Therapy, Psychology, Environmental Studies, Classical Music, African American Studies, Asian Studies, Art & Architecture, Dance, Literature, Women's Studies, Religion, and LGBT Studies.

The database includes content from over 800 leading distributors, producers, and filmmakers, including BBC, CNN, 60 MINUTES / CBS, The History® Channel (A&E), Milestone Films, Dummies, Bloomberg Media Distribution, Documentary Educational Resources (DER), Microtraining, Envision, Inc., Stanley Milgram, Dallas Learning Solutions, Royal Shakespeare Company, CreativeLive, Davidson Films, Intelecom, Annenberg Learner, The George Balanchine Foundation, and Third World Newsreel.
