All CUNY students have access to a variety of mathematical and statistical analysis software (including Mathematica). Find information on how to use these software on the CUNY Virtual Desktop Applications information page.

Below are a few sources for free statistical data sets.

Historical Statistics of the United States
Electronic edition of the 5-volume Historical Statistics of the United States. Find historical statistics on topics such as population, income, employment, education, crime, and economics. Users can export data to spreadsheets or create custom tables. This is a CSI subscription resource, so you will need to use your log-on credentials to access the data.
U.S. Census Bureau
Official demographic data from the U.S. Census Bureau covering births, deaths, education, employment, income, housing, and much more. To jump directly to Census and American Community Survey data please use https://data.census.gov. The American FactFinder is transitioning to this site.

Bank Data & Statistics from the FDIC
Use searchable databases to find information on specific banks, their branches, and the industry.
NYC Open Data
This site brings together publicly available data from a wide number of NYC government agencies. Among thousands of data sets, it includes statistical information on 311 calls, information on car crash patterns, and permits.
IPEDS Use the Data
This site, from the US Department of Education allows access to datasets on institutions of higher education throughout the nation.
