Information Literacy: Definition and Importance

This guide is designed to help define and promote the importance of information literacy taught by library faculty at CSI

Critical thinking- information literacy relationship

Critical thinking is deeply connected with information literacy.

Critical thinking requires individuals to reflect and think about their behaviour, situation, actions (or the information they access) in an objective, logical manner.

Information literacy requires individuals to identify the information they need, to develop a clear and succinct thesis statement and research question, the skills to access information, evaluate the information they find, use and/or apply the information for their intended purpose, and convey and/or communicate the information ethically and legally.
