How do I find materials on microfilm?

Certain serial publications, particularly back issues of old newspapers and periodicals, can be found on microfilm. Most microfilm and microfiche are located off-site, in building 2M. If the library catalog indicates that the item you want is available on microfilm or fiche, use the form below to request the item to be retrieved. Please allow 72 hours for retrieval of material. For any questions regarding the microfilm collection please contact 718-982-4010.

A limited number of microfilm titles such as the Staten Island Advance are available for use within the library. In order to use the Microfilm for the Staten Island Advance please contact the Reference Desk 718-982-4010

We currently have a Microfilm reader available for use in room 1L-109A. We encourage that you please contact the Reference Desk prior to your visit to ensure that the material and machine are available. Access to the Microfilm reader is available Monday through Friday from 9 to 5pm.

The service is not available on weekends and holidays but exceptions can be made by scheduling an appointment. Please call 718 982-4010. You will receive an email when the item is available for pickup. Items will be held at the Circulation/Reserve desk for up to 72 hours after notification.

Microfilm can be viewed on the microfilm reader located in room 1L-109A (Library Technology Support Center) after filling out the form, or checking availability at the Reference desk.
