The CSI Library now subscribes to FILM PLATFORM, a streaming video database with a mission to use film as a conversation starter for students, academics, and filmmakers. It provides access to the leading documentary films from across the world that are selected by experts to showcase topics of social, political, and cultural importance. Their streaming video database is continually expanding to include the most current award-winning documentaries and film festival selections.
All of the films on FILM PLATFORM have a Public Performance Rights license that grants instructors to right to screen the film in their classes. We also hope to screen some of these films in the Library theater in the near future.
Subject collections include: Human Rights, African-American Studies, Legal Studies, Environmental Studies, Arts and Culture, Jewish Studies, Urban Studies and Architecture, Politics, Asian Studies, Israel/Palestine Studies, Gender Studies, Journalism, Genocide, Sociology, Social Work, K – 12, LGBT Studies, Technology, Psychology, and Disability Studies. For a sampling of some of the films on this platform, please visit https://www.filmplatform.net/collections/subject-collections/
There is a search function to locate your favorite film, or you can simply browse the collection of films, by topic, country, or language.
You may access this database on the A-Z list of Databases (under "F"), or via this direct link here.
