A Place for All People: Introducing the National Museum of African American History and Culture is a poster exhibit in the Library Gallery that celebrates the opening of the newest Smithsonian Museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture. This exhibit explores African American history, culture, and community, and is accompanied by programming ideas and educational resources.

A Place for All People examines the African American experience, characterized by pain and glory, power and civility, enslavement and freedom. It evokes the power of story telling, artistic achievement, and cultural expression.  In addition, this poster exhibit is a survey of the African American community’s powerful, deep and lasting contributions to the American story.

Also on display is a brief overview of the Liberian Community on Staten Island, as well as a display of prominent African American women.
