Collection Development & Maintenance

How Do I Request New Materials for the Library?

The CSI Library welcomes the input of the College's teaching faculty in its collection development efforts. Faculty members are invited to recommend books, journals, and audio-visual materials for library purchase by completing the Library Materials Request Form. Before completing this form, please note the following:

  • While the library welcomes faculty suggestions, purchase decisions are ultimately dependent on the selection criteria outlined in the library's Collection Development Policy and the availability of funds.
  • Priority is given to materials that: a) support the College's curriculum; b) are required course reading; and/or c) meet students' assignment needs.
  • Before requesting an item, please check the online catalog to ensure that the library does not already own it.
  • If we are unable to obtain the item(s) you suggest, you may wish to borrow the material through interlibrary loan.

Any Reserve requests, new or moving locations, needs to be placed using the Course Reserves form.
